In underground cafes teenages defy authorities and ""jive"" to the beat of Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Elvis. Alexi, a young classical musician, studying at the state conservatory is madly in love with Valentina, the beautiful of a highly placed party official. Alexi's uncle, Dmitri, has a collection of rock records which he has smuggled into the country.
